Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the worldwide leader in funding research to cure type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, but lasts a lifetime. JDRF sets the global agenda for diabetes research, and is the largest charitable funder of, and advocate for, diabetes science worldwide. JDRF’s mission has been constant since it was founded four decades ago: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Until a cure is found, JDRF is also committed to working tirelessly to develop new and better treatments to improve the lives of people who have type 1 diabetes and keep them as healthy as possible. Today, people with type 1 diabetes rely on insulin to manage the disease. But insulin is not a cure, nor does it prevent the possibility of the disease’s devastating effects, which can include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, amputation, and pregnancy complications. JDRF is dedicated to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes and removing the burdens and threats the disease carries. The 1st Annual JDRFDodgeball Open is an effort to generate more awareness for type 1 diabetes and to raise funds for finding a cure.

BC Professional Firefighters Association

http://www.bcpffa.org

The British Columbia Professional Fire Fighters Association is an organization which is comprised of the 51 locals who represent the professional men and women fire fighters of this province. All 51 locals are members of the International Association of Fire Fighters (I.A.F.F.), the parent organization which serves the more than 18,000 Canadians for whom fire fighting is a career. There are approximately 3,800 career fire fighters in B.C.

The professional fire fighters in your community are trained to provide many services other than the traditional role of fire suppression. They work daily to hone their skills in such disciplines as High angle (hi-rise), Tower crane, Mountain, and Confined-space rescue; Hazardous materials response; Heavy rescue (industrial type accidents); Auto extrication (motor vehicle accidents); First Responder emergency medical response; Fire safety inspections; Fire prevention education programs and other critical tasks relating to emergency response and emergency rescue. The BCPFFA is committed to providing services and resources to our member locals, and to actively working with governments and other agencies so that our members and the citizens they serve are protected and cared for. The 1st Annual JDRF Dodgeball Open is proud to have the BCPFAA as one of our partners.
